ICON CHESS RESOURCE is an indigenous chess company in the business of chess development and promotion in the country, an affiliate of the Nigeria Chess Federation.

Our motto is “WHERE GREAT MINDS MEET”.We are involved with scholastic chess program and organizing chess tournaments.

Our mission is to bring the educational benefits of chess to children and young people throughout schools in Nigeria by providing a complete chess curriculm and enrichment program.

It directly contributes to academic performance by teaching the following skills, focusing ,visualizing, thinking ahead ,weighing options, analyzing concretely , thinking abstractly, and planning.

The other social benefits closely allied to the educational benefit include: reduced delinquency, reduced drug use, improved ethical sense,improved discipline, improved sense of fairness and social mobility.

Our invoivement in the promotion is to organize chess tournaments within and outside the door steps of our chess community.

The objective is to support “Elite” players in Nigeria with a focus on promising juniors with the potential to become international grandmasters and Grandmasters.

In order to fulfil our objective, we seek to source financial support for chess development activities from individuals, private foundation, corporate sponsors and local government.

Finally, ICR offer’s to bring chess to as many schools in the country as possible. This will be done by providing contacts of chess teachers, providing chess materials, and training chess teams for National and international tournaments.
